Ryan's Hope 6-16-86 Pt. 1

In our story, Frank has ended his relationship with Jill and she has moved into an apartment with Dakota. Frank finds himself becoming intimate with his assistant DA Diana Douglas, but they keep their feelings secret from their families since Diana is African American. Rejected a final time by Frank, Maggie has turned her attention to Roger, who has proposed marriage. Max realizes that Maggie has stolen business documents from him that implicate him in shady deals. When Maggie refuses to give them back, Max subtly threatens her life. After marrying Ryan, Rick begins to act like a crooked cop on the take. He suddenly turns up with enough money to pay Ryan's tuition to Columbia university and gives her a color TV that she thinks is stolen. Jack notices Rick's odd behavior and hears rumors that he's become involved with organized crime figure Vinnie Vincent. When Rick is shot during a shootout in Vincent's bookie club, Pat secretly removes the bullet. Unknown to anyone, Rick is working undercover to bust a large criminal organization called Operation Overlord. He fears for his own safety as well as Ryan's. Meanwhile at the Hyde's apartment, Ryan and Melinda are preparing dinner unaware that someone has broken the gas line to the stove. First aired Monday June 16, 1986.
